The local manufacture of implements is funded by the government of Zimbabwe. The project involves the procurement of locally manufactured implements: 300 rippers, 300 ploughs, 300disc harrows, 300 boom sprayers and 100 shellers.
The objective is to provide attachments to tractors under John Deere and Belarus facilities
The manufactured implements will be loaned to farmers through banks. A revolving facility will be created for the next 5 years while capacitating local manufacturers of farm implements.
The Ministry was allocated ZWL$118 million towards local manufacture of implements to support the John Deere and Belarus facilities whereby only tractors without implements that can be manufactured locally are being imported.
The implements procured from local manufacturers will be used as attachments to tractors coming under the two facilities even those already in existence.
The process for procurement of locally manufactured implements will go a long way in capacitating the local industries hence downstream and upstream benefits will be guaranteed.
