Background

Coffee Research Station (CRS) is one of the commodity research stations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Department of Agricultural Research and Extension Services (AREX) and was established in 1964.  The Station is responsible for its activities to the Director of AREX through he Deputy Director, Technical.   It is located at the former government demonstration farm about 7 Kilometres from Chipinge.

Mission

To establish for local conditions, the factual information on which improved and more efficient methods of production of coffee can be based on. 

Vision

To turn CRS as a hub for regional information exchange and technological development in coffee production.  To pursue this mission; we believe in the provision of appropriate applied research and the sharing of ideas with all our key stakeholders.

Objectives 

To develop and disseminate technologies for sustainable production of coffee through appropriate and relevant research.  The various sections of CRS defined the strategies and tactics being employed by this objective.

The Coffee Research station is divided into four sections namely administration, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology and farm .  The agronomy, entomology and plant pathology sections are the driving force behind the research programme.
